New regulation restricting tourist apartments in Valencia to 2 percent comes into force
The city of Valencia has introduced a new set of regulations aimed at restricting the number of tourist apartments there.
Under new rules only two percent of homes in each neighbourhood can be used for tourist apartments, while the remaining 98 percent must remain residential.
These regulations, described as "the most restrictive in Spain," came into effect 15 days after their publication in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP), meaning that the moratorium on licenses, in place for the last two years, has also expired.
It also limit the total number of tourist accommodations of any type, which includes hotels, apartment blocks, and tourist rentals to a maximum of 8 percent in each district.
Madrid Metro to get Starlink provide underground coverage for the satellite phones
Last summer, Metro de Madrid acquired some 60 satellite phones, prompted by the nationwide black out in April 2025, which affected around 230 trains, 44 of them inside tunnels.
In order to be able to communicate effectively if this ever happens again in the future, the company has decided equip itself with specialised satellite devices.
"This contract outlines the second phase of the implementation of satellite communications in the Madrid Metro," the company stated.
Some of the coverage will be provided by Elon Musk's company Starlink, one of the world's leading satellite internet service providers.
